Why Northern Illinois should not play in the BCS

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has come under criticism for saying that Norther Illinois does not belong in a BCS bowl game.

They became eligible after winning the Mid American Conference and finishing ranked in the top 16.

For conferences who do not automatically qualify for the BCS, teams become eligible for one of the ten slots in BCS bowl games by being ranked in the top 16 at the end of the regular season. Continue reading

Life update: I’m moving to Chicago in 19 days


I’m so excited to be moving to the Chicago area on May 20.

It’s a sudden decision and is something that, just a month and a half ago, was honestly not on my radar and that I hadn’t been considering.

This spring, I started taking graduate classes at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in their Master of Divinity program. Trinity is located in Deerfield, Illinois which is a suburb of Chicago. Continue reading

Ohio State – Illinois: Notes and Thoughts

It was unbelievable. For the whole game, the Ohio State offense had one play that was working: halfback lead draw. For the whole game, Illinois struggled to stop it.

Earlier this season, when Ohio State completed a laughable four passes in a loss at Miami, I remember thinking, “Wow… Those are passing stats from the 1930s, not 2011… I’m sure I’ll never see that happen again in a Buckeye game.” Continue reading
