It was unbelievable.
The Ohio State offense had been everything Buckeye fans have wanted it to be. Nebraksa had no answers for Braxton Miller. Into the third quarter of the game, the offense had been beautifully orchestrated. Short passes; passing on early downs; misdirection; and, on a few broken plays, Braxton Miller was able to pick up yards on the ground. Everything was going right when the Buckeyes took a 27-6 lead in the third quarter. (more…)
Another tough loss for the Buckeyes. They limp into Nebraska with an offensive line that stops advancements about as well as the French in World War II and quite possibly the worst aerial attack since the advent of the forward pass.
At the end of the month, they play the best team in the Big Ten: Wisconsin. The Badgers are going to be on this Ohio State team like Ivan Drago on Appollo Creed in Rocky IV.
As the Ohio State offense struggled through today’s loss at home against Michigan State, I kept thinking, “For this team to win, they’re going to have to score on defense or special teams.” Late in the third quarter, with Michigan State leading 7-0, I thought that break was going to hair happen when Buckeye defensive back Travis Howard narrowly missed intercepting a pass from Michigan State quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Howard would have easily scored a touchdown.
Ohio State 2011 Season.
Game 3, at Miami, Fla.
It was just one game.
I tried not to panic after the Buckeyes struggled with Toledo last week. Many were down on OSU quarterback Joe Bauserman, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After the Buckeye loss at Miami this evening, I don’t think Bauserman is viable. He isn’t throwing passes that can be caught.

2011 season – game II, vs Toledo
This isn’t the type of Ohio State team who you expect to compete for a national championship. There are probably going to be games that they lose this season, but throughout today’s tight victory against the University of Toledo, I found myself thinking, “Fickell cannot afford to lose this game.”
