Famine and feast – Luke 22:19-20

Throughout the Bible, we see agricultural language. From creation in a garden to man’s expulsion and curse where they face famine and draught. Great festivals of the Old Testament which celebrate harvests and revolve around food. Several of the parables of Jesus invoke agricultural language and in the last supper, Jesus takes the dietary staple of bread, and the fruit of the vine and compares them to his body and blood which are given for our sins.
