Earlier this week, the famed Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias passed away from cancer at the age of 74. Zacharias had an international ministry that took him across the globe defending the Christian faith and presenting the gospel. He had a prodigious travel schedule and wrote many books. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy and a wealth of wisdom and insight into human nature, society, and theology. What follows are some of my favorite quotes from Ravi.

This is one of my favorite stories I’ve seen in a long time. It’s like a movie plot.

Tanitoluwa Adewumi (nicknamed Tani) came to the United States with his family in 2017. His family is Christian and fled from Nigeria, amid persecution from Boko Haram.

They came to New York City, but have been staying in a homeless shelter.

It’s easy to know how to have a great marriage, but actually having one takes work

It’s EASY to know how to have a good marriage. In theory.
It’s easy to know what you should do. But it can be really hard to DO what you should do.
It’s really easy to know how to put yourself into a good financial situation. Spend less money, save, avoid debt. It’s harder to actually have the discipline to do it.

Marriage as a picture of the gospel

In the Bible, so much of the marriage language about weddings, brides, and grooms is discussing the relationship between God and his people. In the Bible, in spite of humanity’s sin, turning away from God, the Lord is depicted as a faithful groom.

In the New Testament, the church is depicted as the bride and Christ is the groom. That’s part of the reason why our passage said “husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

Singer Michael Buble appeared this week on “Carpool Karaoke,” a popular segment on the Late Late Show where James Corden drives around with famous singers, sings their greatest hits with them and has a conversation.

In this episode, the conversation came to the subject of Michael’s son Noah and his two year fight with liver cancer. Fortunately, the cancer is now in remission but it is still understandably an emotional subject for Buble.
