The Church: being part of something bigger than yourself

An astounding 16 million soldiers, sailors and Marines served America in the Second World War.
And while most of our focus on World War II is on the military and combat, within the United States, there was an effort to support the war unlike anything our nation had seen or has seen since.
With millions going overseas, Americans at home took up new jobs.
Coming out of the Great Depression, unemployment dried up, reaching an all time low in 1944.

The Church: serving together in the Mission of God

What this is saying is that we have one body but our body has many parts to it.
In 1 Corinthians 12, the Apostle Paul gives a fantastic illustration for the church. It functions like a human body. Everyone in the church is part of the body and has a purpose within the body. If a part of the body is unhealthy or is not functioning properly, that effects the rest of the body.

Majority of surveyed Christians don’t believe church is necessary

Recently, Ligonier Ministries and Lifeway Research released their “State of Theology” survey. In the study, 3,000 American Christians were surveyed on various theological and moral positions.

58% of respondents agreed with the statement “Worshipping alone or with one’s family is a valid replacement for regularly attending church.”

It’s one thing for a non-Christian to believe that. But for Christians?! The Christian life is not a solo sport. There are several reasons why worshipping and  involvement in a local church is essential to our Spiritual growth and to Christian living.
