Woman will serve no prison time for trying to flush newborn baby down toilet

Sarah Lockner was working at a California McDonald’s on September 4, 2017. Fellow coworkers notice a trail of blood leading to Lockner. She tried to attribute the blood to a heavy period, but a coworker went to the bathroom and found a newborn baby in the toilet. Lockner had given birth during the shift and tried to flush her own child down the toilet.

Fortunately, the child survived and is now living with one of the father’s relatives.

It’s a horrifying and wicked story.

But in just as horrifying of a turn of events, this week, the mother found out that she will not time in prison. She will serve probation for four years, with one year in the county jail (for which she already has time served), and will have to attend parenting classes.

This woman attempted to murder her own newborn baby. Where is the justice in this?

Commentary

There are states who have pushed the legal limits of abortion up to the point of birth. Everyone intellectually knows there’s no major moral difference between a late term fetus and a newborn.

I find it interesting that this woman had such a lenient non-sentence. I see a story like this and it’s sadly not shocking to me when I consider the low regard that many in our society have for the unborn.
